Sharp Lawns Spring Checklist
Spring is the perfect time to get your lawn in shape for the season ahead. At Sharp Lawns, we recommend a few essential tasks to ensure your green space thrives.
Clear Debris
Rake or blow away leaves, twigs, and winter junk to free up the grass.
Inspect Soil
Dig a 6-inch hole, fill with water, and check drainage. Slow drainage? Plan to aerate.
Aerate
Call Us. We will use a core aerator to loosen compacted soil, ideally mid to late April when it’s not too wet.
Fertilize
Sharp Lawns will
apply a slow-release, nitrogen-rich fertilizer for cool-season grasses once soil hits 50-55°F (late April).
First Mow
Cut grass at 3 inches with a sharp blade when it reaches 3-4 inches tall.
Weed Prevention
Sharp Lawns will spread pre-emergent herbicide when forsythia blooms (mid-April) to stop crabgrass.
Overseed
We will fill bare spots with cool-season grass seed, keeping it moist until germination.
